We are pleased to announce a new Teamster Privilege voluntary benefit for Teamster members that provides additional financial protection if they can't work due to illness, injury or loss of DOT certification because of a medical condition. The Teamsters VIP+ Plan’s open enrollment deadline of 5/23/2024 for coverage effective 6/1/2024.
The new benefit, Teamsters VIP+, is a voluntary income protection program that provides Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD) and Life Insurance with Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage. This program is offered in partnership with Union One.
This benefit is added to the STD or LTD benefit offered by a Teamsters health and welfare plan or an employer-sponsored program. Importantly, the benefit is paid in addition to any negotiated benefits. Significantly, this benefit has special provisions that protect members whose jobs require CD Ls or other specialty licenses if they lose their license due to a medical condition and cannot continue to work.
All benefit options are guaranteed and approved during open enrollment for all active, US-based, dues-paying Teamsters. Union One is currently reaching out to Teamsters to let them know about this new benefit program and how to enroll.
